A Vandergrift man pleaded guilty Thursday to the armed robbery of a man earlier this year in Washington Township.

David Ash, 52, was sentenced to serve one to two years in prison for an incident March 2 near Route 780 and North Washington Road.

Police said Ash assaulted the victim and his partner took $220 after they arranged to meet for him to return a hair straightener and $25 that had been borrowed.

Police said the victim had teeth knocked out and sustained cuts and bruises.

In addition to the robbery charge, Ash also pleaded guilty to counts of conspiracy and making terroristic threats. Westmoreland County Court Judge Rita Hathaway ordered him to serve the prison sentence as well as two additional years on probation.
