Lower Burrell crash sends 5 to hospitals
Five people were taken to area hospitals after a two-vehicle head-on collision along Dutchman Run Road in Lower Burrell at about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday.
Lower Burrell police said Colleen Beattie, 48, of Upper Burrell was driving a Hyundai Elantra toward Seventh Street Road and collided with a van carrying a family of four.
The van was driven by Angela Wroblewski of Jeannette. Her husband Colton was the front seat passenger and their two children, ages one and four, were in car seats in the back of the van.
Colton Wroblewski said his family was heading to visit his mother, who lives in the area. Their van had major front end damage. The impact snapped off the driver’s side wheel and demolished a side panel.
Lower Burrell police said Beattie reported not feeling well because of the heat, causing her to cross the center line into the path of the van.
Beattie was alone in her car. It had heavy damage.
The wreck happened about 40 yards from Seventh Street Road.
