State police in Greensburg issued a warrant Wednesday for the man accused of assaulting and snatching a wallet from a good Samaritan in the parking lot of the Hempfield Wal Mart.
Troopers charged Eddie Clarence Fairman, 31, with robbery, access device fraud, theft of lost property, receiving stolen property, simple assault and harassment. Fairman is known to frequent the Greensburg, Jeannette, Latrobe and Derry areas but has ties to New York, New Jersey and Florida, state police said.
Police said a 38-year-old Greensburg man had dropped his wallet in the Greengate Centre parking lot Oct. 17. A second man picked up the wallet and asked a person sitting in a nearby car if it was his. Police identified the man in the vehicle as Fairman.
The man returning the wallet saw photo identification inside and realized it didn't belong to Fairman, who police said had already grabbed it. Fairman threatened the man, digging fingernails into his hand until he released the wallet before driving off, police said.
Fairman and a female accomplice, identified as Courtney Elyse Warburton, 26, of Irwin, used credit cards from the wallet to buy more than $650 worth of merchandise from Giant Eagle, police said.
Police arrested Warburton on Thursday. She is charged with access device fraud, conspiracy to commit access device fraud and conspiracy to receive stolen property.
Police described Fairman as white, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a scruffy beard, brown hair that's balding on top and possibly a tattoo on his left arm. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Christopher Cole at 724-830-2431.
