4 accused in multiple Allegheny County holdups now charged in Westmoreland
Bennie Carter of West Mifflin is charged with robberies in Delmont and North Huntingdon.
Four people charged last month with committing a series of convenience store robberies in Allegheny County were formally charged this week with holdups in Delmont and North Huntingdon.
Sarah Angert, 24, and Damon Gergely, 24, both of North Huntingdon; Lindsay Vasko, 25, of Glassport; and Bennie Carter, 52, of West Mifflin were charged by Westmoreland Detective John Clark with two counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery and conspiracy charges before North Huntingdon District Judge Wayne Gongaware. They are awaiting arraignment.
The four are accused of an early-morning holdup at the BP gas station on Route 30 at Arona Road in North Huntingdon on Oct. 6, an attempted robbery at the same station Oct. 7 and an armed robbery early Nov. 4 at the Sunoco station along Route 66 in Delmont .
“We've been working with multiple departments on this for a while. I can tell you our officers, county detectives and (North Huntingdon) township police put a lot of effort in on this,” said Delmont police Chief T.J. Klobuchar.
Clark said the Delmont and North Huntingdon Police continue to assist in the investigation.
Carter allegedly drove the getaway van in the holdups.
Gergely, Vasko and Carter have been held in the Allegheny lockup since early November, following their arrests by West Mifflin Borough police in connection with robberies at stores in West Mifflin and Dravosburg.
The fourth suspect, Angert, recently was implicated in one of the West Mifflin robberies and has been held in the Westmoreland County Prison on an unrelated complaint in North Huntingdon.
