Gina Cerilli of Hempfield won the Democratic nod for Westmoreland County commissioner in the May 2015 primary.
A crowded field of candidates plan to seek U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy's soon-to-be former seat in Washington representing Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District.

Demographic data show the district is whiter, wealthier, older and more educated than Pennsylvania as a whole. The district includes parts of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Greene and Washington counties.
