Charges filed in Delmont shooting

An Apollo man will have a hearing Monday on criminal charges, including aggravated assault, alleging he fired six shots into the car of an ex-girlfriend's boyfriend in Delmont early New Year's Day.

Bryan M. Wallace, 24, was charged by borough police with illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief in connection with the incident at 12:17 a.m. Jan. 1.

Police allege that Wallace made threats on Facebook against the victim then fired at the unoccupied car outside an apartment on West Pittsburgh Street, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Delmont Officer Easton R. Weaver.

“If I catch you around ... my girl again you're gonna wish you didn't leave your safe house,” Wallace told the victim hours before the incident, according to Weaver.

In court papers filed before Export District Judge Charles Conway, Weaver said another person who lives in the apartment complex heard the gunshots and saw Wallace fleeing north on Freeport Street in his purple Dodge pickup truck.

Police allege the victim and another witness saw Wallace outside the apartment before the shooting and that he pointed a handgun toward the victim.

Wallace was arrested at his residence with the aid of state police from Kittanning.

Wallace cannot possess a firearm because of a 2010 felony conviction for possession and distribution of a controlled substance in Greensburg.

He was released Friday from the county prison after raising $10,000 cash bail posted by a bail bondsman, according to court dockets.
