A Greensburg woman punched a state trooper at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport after driving past a security gate onto the airfield and telling the trooper she was an FBI agent, according to court documents.
Dakota J. Jones, 24, was arraigned before District Judge Michael Mahady on charges of aggravated assault, impersonating a police officer, harassment and driving without a license. She was ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $5,000 bail.
Trooper Teko Angelicchio, a pilot with the agency’s aviation unit based at the Unity airport, was departing through the special security gate for employees about 2:05 p.m. Sunday when Jones, driving a 2006 Toyota pickup truck, drove through “nearly striking Angelicchio’s vehicle,” state police Cpl. Brian Lumsden reported in court documents.
Angelicchio turned his personal vehicle around and followed Jones onto the airport property and pulled her over near the state police helicopter hangar, just off Route 981, Lumsden reported.
“(Jones) initially complied, however, at some point she identified herself as an FBI agent and struck Trooper Angelicchio about his face with a closed fist,” Lumsden wrote.
Jones was taken into custody by Angelicchio until troopers from the Greensburg barracks arrived. It was discovered that Jones, who has no permanent Greensburg address, was driving without a valid driver’s license, Lumsden reported.
A preliminary hearing for Jones was tentatively scheduled for Dec. 10. In a separate case, Jones has a preliminary hearing scheduled Tuesday before Harrison City District Judge Helen Kistler on a charge filed by Penn Township Police for unauthorized use of a vehicle.
