A Jeannette man is being held without bail after authorities said he tried to sell two stolen pistols to a confidential informant.
Tyler Lee Williams, 25, was charged Friday with receiving stolen property and gun violations.
State police were tipped off to the sale by the confidential informant on Thursday, according to an affidavit. Police set up surveillance Thursday night and watched as the informant picked Williams up in Jeannette and drove to Greensburg. Authorities searched a black backpack that Williams allegedly put in the trunk and found two pistols that had been reported stolen inside.
A Sept. 20 preliminary hearing is set.
