Elusive Latrobe area man ordered to jail on three escape complaints
A 19-year-old man wanted for three escapes since September was arrested Saturday in Latrobe and is in the Westmoreland County Prison on multiple criminal complaints.
“We were able to locate him here in town,” police Chief Jim Bumar said.
Cory Lee Jording, who has lived in the Latrobe area but has no current address, was first charged with escape Sept. 14 when he left a bus headed to the Glen Mills School for adjudicated youth in Delaware County. Jording was ordered to the school by Common Pleas Court Judge John Blahovec, according to court documents filed before District Judge James Albert in Greensburg.
Greensburg police reported Jording fled the bus when it stopped at an intersection on West Fourth Street in the city.
At 9:40 p.m. Oct. 25, Greensburg police were called to the 600 block of State Street after a Greensburg Salem High School football game to investigate a report of three males attempting to enter cars.
When police approached a white van parked nearby, Jording ran and couldn't be located, Patrolman Frank Tempo alleges in an affidavit of probable cause.
At 3:16 a.m. Nov. 12, Latrobe Officer Ronald Keslar saw Jording walking along Route 982 and knew he was wanted on the multiple arrest warrants in Greensburg. Jording initially complied with an order to surrender and placed his hands on the patrol car, Keslar reported in an affidavit of probable cause filed before Unity District Judge Michael Mahady.
However, when Keslar tried to place Jording in handcuffs, “he spun to the left and began to flee,” the officer reported.
Keslar said Jording was last seen running along Wilson Street.
Officer Jason Myers apprehended Jording in Latrobe, and he was arraigned Sunday before night court District Judge Charles Christner, who set bail at $30,000, or $10,000 for each escape complaint. He was remanded to the county jail.
