A veteran of community journalism has begun a new position with the Tribune-Review.

Lori Falce will shepherd the opinion pages for both the Greensburg Tribune-Review and the Valley News Dispatch, but writing editorials will only be part of her responsibilities as the Community Engagement Editor.

“We are so pleased to have Lori join our team here at the Trib,” said Executive Editor Sue McFarland. “She is an innovative professional with a proven track record of engaging readers across all digital platforms and in print.”

Creating and nurturing continuing connections with the diverse elements of the communities the newspaper serves will be a priority for Falce. In addition to establishing these relationships, she will play an integral role in the realignment of the editorial boards in the municipalities served by the newspaper’s two editions. She will also be the leader of an effort to organize community forums on important issues to Trib readers.

“Telling the story of neighborhoods and small towns, and putting those into context with big issues, that is what makes journalism so important to me,” Falce said. “We need to be informed, but we also need to be connected. I look forward to helping connect Allegheny and Westmoreland county readers to the issues and to each other.”

Falce most recently served as deputy editor for the Centre Daily Times in State College and is a multiple-award winner in the annual Keystone Press Awards that recognize outstanding journalism in Pennsylvania.
