A Unity Township home on Fourth Street was heavily damaged by fire Thursday Oct. 26, 2017.
A Unity home was heavily damaged by fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire started in a first-floor room of the Fourth Street residence about 1:54 p.m., Whitney-Hostetter fire Chief Tony Matuszky said.

There were no injuries.

A state police fire marshal ruled the fire an accident, started by an unidentified electrical device near a TV stand.

The room where the blaze started and the second-floor room above it were nearly destroyed, and another second-floor room was heavily damaged, Matuszky said.

The fire marshal estimated damages at $50,000.

Firefighters were able to save some of the furniture and other objects, Matuszky said.

The fire was extinguished by about 3:30 p.m.
