Franklin Regional High School stabber didn't discriminate

The mass stabbings left 22 people injured, including 21 students and a security guard.

Franklin Regional School District officials have released no information about the student victims and have barred school employees from discussing the incident with the media.

This is a partial list of the victims from discussions with family members and fellow students. They represent a cross-section of the student body, from a math whiz to musicians to athletes, all now facing recovery from the darkest event of their school days.

Jared Boger, a junior, played Legion baseball and is a member of the ski patrol at Seven Springs. “Our entire mountain family is deeply saddened by this tragedy, and all of our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Jared, the other victims, their families, friends and loved ones,” said resort communications manager Anna Weltz.

Brandon Brown, 14, is a ninth-grader who plays clarinet in the marching band. He was taken to Children's Hospital with stab wounds.

Julianna Carolla, a 17-year-old senior, is on the swim team. She was treated for a hand wound and released. “We're considering ourselves very lucky,” said her mother, Monica.

Kolden Cook, 16, is a sophomore. Neighbors said he's a good kid, and they hope he makes a quick recovery.

Brett Hurt,16, a sophomore, moved to the school district last year. “He's talked about joining the military someday,” said friend Gracey Evans.

Greg Keener, a sophomore, was described as a math whiz. “The doctors are calling him Superman. Pray for him as he has a second surgery this weekend,” his older sister, Rachel Keener, tweeted on Thursday.

Katherine Lonergan, 17, is a junior and a member of the Pantherette dance team. “She's been doing OK. She had some stitches, and she's just laying low today. There's been a lot of texts and flowers showing up. People are very supportive,” said her father, Gerald.

Nate Moore, a sophomore, is on the track and football teams.

Jacob Scheidhauer, 17 and a junior, participates in the annual Christmas in Salem Crossroads pageant in Delmont. His mother said he is recovering from his wounds.

Nate Scimio, a sophomore, is on the track team, plays soccer and “loves to make jokes.” He tweeted a photo of himself, grinning, in his hospital gown at Children's Hospital on Wednesday.

Nick Snyder is a junior and a member of the swim team. On Thursday, he tweeted from his hospital bed: “Pretty sore, but I'm out of tomorrow.”

Michael Spila is a sophomore on the drum line with the marching band. On Thursday afternoon, he tweeted a picture of a welcome home cake. “Thank you for the cake, family,” he tweeted.

Connor Warwick is a senior tennis player. Friends have been tweeting his picture with pleas for prayers.
