A former worker at Greensburg's Sunset Cafe faces criminal charges after police said video surveillance captured him stealing tips from a waitress.

Samuel D. Golik, 30, of Greensburg is charged by theft by unlawful taking in connection with the Dec. 8 incident at the South Urania Avenue restaurant.

Patrolman William Newmeyer reported that a waitress said she was missing tip money during her shift and that he reviewed security video.

“Golik can be seen washing his hands multiple times while standing at the sink and looking around for anyone else in the area,” Newmeyer wrote in court records. “Golik can be seen moving the money bag, taking something from it, followed by him clearly placing that item in his pants pocket.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Jan. 18 before District Judge James Albert.
