Jennifer Rager, 35, of Jeannette has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Jeannette City School Board.

Rager, an appeals supervisor with United Healthcare, was among five applicants the school board considered for the vacancy created by the resignation of board member Anita Mash.

Rager, who has an eight-year-old daughter and is active in the McKee Elementary PTO, ran an unsuccessful campaign for the board last year as a write-in candidate. She will be sworn-in at the next board meeting on Oct. 8.

Her appointment expires next year when there will be an election to fill the remaining two years of Mash’s term.

The school board also filled two staff vacancies this week. They approved the hiring of Bethany Smith as the McKee Elementary School Counselor and Alexis Corrie as the 4 th grade elementary teacher.
