The Westmoreland County Courthouse hosted about 65 children Friday as part of Child Government Day.

The children of county employees spent the workday learning about their parents' jobs through a number of activities, including demonstrations by the county's park police, public safety department, sheriff's office and courts.

Children were able to see flying public safety drones, the jaws of life device with public safety employees; a crime scene investigation with the coroner's office; a jail holding cell and a demonstration by Rex, the county's explosives-sniffing canine officer.

Children also participated in a mock trial program in two courtrooms and received a presentation from the county's Drug Overdose Task Force.
