Mister Rogers to appear on 2018 Forever stamps
The face of a beloved Southwestern Pennsylvania native will grace pieces of mail across the country as one of the U.S. Postal Service's new stamp designs for 2018.
Fred Rogers, originally from Latrobe, is among several icons and historical events that will appear on Forever Stamps next year, according to a news release from the postal service.
Generations of children watched Rogers' television show, “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood,” on many PBS stations. The show was filmed in WQED-TV's Oakland studios.
Rogers died in 2003.
On the stamp, Rogers is pictured alongside King Friday, one of the puppets that appeared on the show. More information on when the stamp will be available will be released at a later date, according to the postal service.
Other notable figures appearing on the postal service's 2018 stamps include performer and civil rights activist Lena Horne, America's first woman in space, Sally Ride, and musician John Lennon.
