Monessen police seeking robbery suspect
Monessen Police are seeking a Greene County man accused of robbing two people of $570 last week.
City police acquired an arrest warrant Monday for James Darnell Foster, 26, of Waynesburg, on two counts of robbery and one count of simple assault after one of the victims identified him from a photograph on Monday.
Officer William Dennison said a woman who resides on the 1200 block of Reservoir Street told them she met a man only known to her as “J” to get an estimate to cut her grass at a Reservoir Avenue property about 2:30 p.m. June 7. The victim lives on the same street as Foster’s grandmother, police said.
After they agreed on a price, the victim said she went to her vehicle to get money out of her purse, according to the complaint. When her son pulled money from his wallet to help pay for the grass cutting, police allege “J” grabbed cash off her son and took off running toward the street.
As Foster fled, Dennison reported the female victim was standing in his path and “J” allegedly grabbed the money off her and shoved her to the ground as he ran. The woman suffered an abrasion to her forearm and pain to her hip, according to the complaint.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Dennison reported Foster fled with about $570.
