Greensburg police are investigating a report made Monday that money could be missing from a lock box at city hall.

Police Chief Chad Zucco said he could not discuss details of the case this early in the investigation.

Though it was initially reported as a theft, it is possible the missing money could be due to an “accounting error,” he said.

Police and city officials have not disclosed the amount of money unaccounted for, or from which office it was reported missing.

“It's an ongoing investigation, I can't really talk about it,” said city Administrator Sue Trout.

Zucco and Trout said more information will be made available once the investigation is further along.
