Noteworthy: Muoio was among 73 nurses honored in 2015 as a Cameo of Caring nurse, including 11 from Allegheny Health Network facilities. The Cameos of Caring Awards, sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, honor exceptional nurses who work at acute care hospitals throughout the 11-county region and are selected by peers. A gala recognizing the awardees was held in Pittsburgh. The program was established in 1999 to promote the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing's commitment to advancing the nursing profession. Nurses from a variety of health care facilities and areas of practice have been honored.

Background: Muoio became a nurse after working in a laboratory for 15 years. Muoio said her husband encouraged her to pursue nursing, which has become her passion. She enjoys mentoring young nurses and feels that helping them adjust to feeling comfortable and capable in their new role is an essential part of her job.
