Service restored to Columbia Gas customers in Rostraver
Columbia Gas crews have restored service to nearly all of the estimated 400 customers in Rostraver whose service was shut off after a loss in pressure.
The gas company had turned off service to the costumers in the area near the intersection of Route 51 and Interstate 70 because of a drop in pressure at a regulation station on Wednesday afternoon, Sarah Barczyk, communications director for Columbia Gas, said Wednesday.
Technicians have restored service to “all available customers affected by the outage” as of 4:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a post on the company's website .
They were to resume door-to-door visits around 8 a.m. to restore service to any remaining customers.
Pressure on the gas line was restored around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Columbia had mobilized about 50 employees to handle the emergency — shutting off the gas service to residences and businesses and relighting the gas appliances and furnaces at homes.
The post said door hangers with information about the outage would be left for customers not home during the restoration process, and they can call 888-460-4332 for a service technician to be dispatched to restore service at their homes.
Warming centers were set up at fire halls in Smithton and Collinsburg in Rostraver. There were no reports of any of the affected customers using them.
