Unity superviors approved two proposed projects with slight modifications that will allow developers to bring a Starbucks and turf arena to the township.

Earlier in the week planning commission members recommended approval for the addition of a 5,400-square-foot indoor practice field to Rusnock Sports and Fitness, 137 Hartman Road, to be used for indoor baseball and football practice.

The approval was granted on the condition of an update to exterior lighting and a modification of the landscape plan for the 2.4-acre property.

For the addition of the two buildings at the 2.5-acre Unity Village Shoppes near Route 30 and Sharky's Drive, supervisors approved modifications, including the need for a loading zone, requirements for a beautification zone along Route 30 and allowing the shallower width of a sidewalk on the eastern edge of the Starbucks building.

Planning commission members recommended the 6-foot sidewalk in lieu of the 10-foot requirement as long as no obstructions will be added.
