West Penn Power trucks wait in a Florida neighborhood where they are assisting in recovery efforts after Hurricane Irma knocked out power to customers there.

Sixty West Penn Power employees, some from the area, are in Florida assisting in recovery efforts after Hurricane Irma, according to a spokesman.

The employees, including 30 linemen, are from the Greensburg, Jeannette, Latrobe and New Kensington areas, said spokesman Todd Meyers. They join 634 employees working in Florida under FirstEnergy, as well as hundreds of other contract tree trimmers and electrical workers who regularly work with the company.

The local employees are working in Bradenton, Fla. for the next several days to restore power to customers of Florida Power and Light.
