Wind causes heavy damage to Derry post office
Heavy wind caused serious damage to the U.S. Post Office in Derry Borough on Tuesday morning.
No one was injured when strong winds caused part of the roof to buckle around 9:42 a.m., according to Derry Volunteer Fire Department officials.
The post office was closed for the day, and is expected to remain closed Wednesday, according to fire officials.
The entire Western Pennsylvania region is under a wind advisory running from 10 p.m. Tuesday night through 4 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Sustained winds between 10 and 25 miles per hour are expected, with gusts potentially reaching 50 miles per hour.
