Weather, Apple’n Arts will affect Delmont paving program
Fallout from Hurricane Florence and the upcoming Apple’n Arts Festival could both affect when Delmont’s 2018 paving program gets under way.
Work on sections of East and West Pittsburgh Street, Delmont Avenue and Tollgate Lane is set to start the week of Sept. 17, but it is dependent on weather.
“I’ve made it clear to the pavers that they can’t start the work and then have it get torn up (by traffic) during the Apple’n Arts Festival,” borough Councilman Stan Cheyne said. “So if they can’t get started (the week of Sept. 17), we may not see them until after Apple’n Arts.”
The $199,000 contract includes $96,000 from the borough’s general fund, and $103,000 in liquid fuel funds supplied by the state.
Crack sealing is also slated to take place this fall, though a specific date has not yet been set.
