The Penn Hills Parks and Recreation Department is throwing an inaugural themed party this weekend.

Autumn in the Hills will be a bash for adults age 21 and older from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20 at Penn Hills Community Park, 120 Colorado Street.

Parks Director John Scaglione said the event will be free admission but there will be food trucks, along with a selection of beer, hard cider and wine with the purchase of a “festival glass.”

He said the event will also include axe throwing, inflatable battles, corn hole, pumpkin decorating and gambling.

Weather permitting, the event will be capped with a screening of the 1985 cult classic film, “The Goonies.”

“It’s looking like it’s going to be cold and rainy though,” Scaglione said. But if the weather allows, the movie will start around 9 p.m., he said.

“This is our first one,” Scaglione said. “It’s a beautiful park. And this time of year it’s really nice down there. So we thought we’d take advantage of this time of the year.”
