10 Allegheny County killers on death row

There are 10 inmates now on death row in Pennsylvania for murders committed in Allegheny County.

An 11th man, Ronald Taylor of Wilkinsburg, received three death sentences Sunday for the slayings of three people during a shooting rampage in Wilkinsburg. His sentences will automatically be reviewed by the state Supreme Court.

The other condemned men, according to State Department of Corrections records, are:

  • Richard Scott Baumhammers, 36, of Mt. Lebanon, who received five death sentences Sept. 6 for a two-county shooting spree on April 28, 2000, that left five people dead.

    Slain were: Anita "Nicki" Gordon, 63, of Mt. Lebanon; Anil Thakur, 31, of India; Thao "Tony" Pham, 27, of Castle Shannon; Ji-Ye "Jerry" Sun, 34, of Churchill; and Garry Lee, 22, of Aliquippa, Beaver County.

    A sixth victim survived, but is paralyzed.

  • Timothy Boczkowski, 46, of Ross Township, sentenced to death May 6, 1999, for the strangulation death of his wife, Maryanne, 34, on Nov. 7, 1994, in the hot tub at the couple's home.
  • Robert Purnell Bryant, 50, sentenced to death March 31, 1987, for the slaying of a fellow inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Pittsburgh.
  • LeRoy Fears, 39, of Hazelwood, sentenced to death Feb. 7, 1995, for the June 21, 1994, sexual assault and strangulation of Shawn Hagan, 12, of Hazelwood whose body was thrown into the Monongahela River.
  • Anthony James Fiebiger, 38, formerly of Brookline, sentenced to death March 1, 1999, for the 1982 rape and murder of Marsha Jones, 16, of Mt. Washington. He received a second death sentence for strangling his former girlfriend, Norma Parker, 53, to death in 1989 in the Carnegie home they shared.
  • Thomas McCullum, 57, sentenced to death Nov. 1, 1989, for the Sept. 17, 1988, rape and beating death of Tillie Katz, 83, in a Squirrel Hill retirement home.
  • Wayne Cordell Mitchell, 24, sentenced to death Dec. 8, 1999, for the Sept. 10, 1997, stabbing death of his estranged wife, Robin Little, 19, of Homewood.
  • Salvador Santiago, 39, formerly of New Castle, Lawrence County, sentenced to death June 7, 1993, for the fatal shooting of Patrick Huber, 23, of Indiana Township during a robbery Jan. 17, 1985, on the South Side.
  • Gerald Watkins, 32, sentenced to death Dec. 13, 1996, for the July 20, 1994, shooting deaths of his 30-year-old girlfriend, Beth Ann Anderson, her 9-year-old son, Charles Kevin Kelly Jr., and the couple's 18-day-old daughter, Melanie Watkins, in the home the couple once shared in Homewood.
  • Jake Tyrone Wesley, 34, of Carnegie, sentenced to life in prison July 11, 1996, for the rape and torture slaying of his upstairs neighbor, Susan Jill Creighton, on June 29, 1994.
