A rocket attack on a Pakistani village near the Afghan border has killed at least 14 people, officials say.

Residents say the attack came from Afghanistan but officials there deny it, the BBC said.

Pakistan earlier protested after eight people died in nearby Waziristan in what it said was cross-border firing. Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces believe Taliban militants are operating in the border area.

The U.S military in Afghanistan said on Friday it had no reports of operations in the area of the latest attack.
