Every month for the next 13 years, unpublished novels by Dame Barbara Cartland will be published on the Internet, the London Telegraph reported Thursday.
The best-selling romance novelist was the most prolific author of the 20th century, having sold 1 billion copies of 720 books that caught on especially well in the United States with Cartland's old-fashioned love story formula.
Cartland died four years ago at age 98, more than 20 years after her publishers asked her to write faster to meet demand. In her final 20 years of writing, Cartland wrote nearly two books a month.
"By the time of her death in 2000, she had accumulated 160 unpublished novels," said Steven Glen of Barbara Cartland's Web site. "They were left in her library, wrapped in pink ribbon."
The unknown stories are being published as The Barbara Cartland Pink Collection, named for her love of the color pink.
