Leave it to the Senator John Heinz History Center to host an intimate party for its most esteemed supporters that would end with everyone’s jaw on the floor.
The 1879 Founders’ Circle Dinner began innocently enough on Nov. 21 for 120 guests, including prez Andy Masich and his wife, Debbie, board chair Bill andSandy Lambert, hosts David and Wendy Barensfeld, Catherine and Mark Loevner, Bev andSteve Elliott, Dr.Thomas and Joy Starzl, Laura Ellsworth, and Jackie Dixon.
But it was a preview of the Sigo Falk Collections Center that was responsible for the collective wow heard echoing throughout the evening. Tucked inside the newly renovated, nine-story, 55,000-square-foot Museum Conservation Center adjacent to the main building were delightful snippets of the museum’s stored collection of goodies. From fashion to function, the treasures reinforce the history center’s reputation as a world-class attraction and darling of the Smithsonian Institution.
“Our mission is to help people understand the past, to make good decisions about today and plans for the future,” Masich said.
