2 found dead in Harrison home
Harrison police and Allegheny County detectives are investigating the deaths of a man and woman found in a home in the township’s Natrona section Friday afternoon.
Michael Nicolazzo said police told him they found his son, Franklin Nicolazzo, 57, and a woman dead on a couch in the home, at 12 Kuntz St.
“He was a good guy,” Nicolazzo said of his son. “It’s hard.”
Harrison police referred questions to Allegheny County detectives, who refused to comment at the scene.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of Nicolazzo, but said the woman’s name likely wouldn’t be released until Saturday.
Likewise, the cause of the couple’s deaths was not expected to be available until after autopsies scheduled for Saturday.
A family friend, Tony Csizmadia, who lives a few doors away on North Canal Street, said he regularly saw Franklin Nicolazzo, who he said was unemployed and spent most of his time at home.
Csizmadia said he went to check on his friend Wednesday evening. He said he saw Nicolazzo and his girlfriend “passed out” on the couch. They were both nude so he left without disturbing them, he said.
Csizmadia said he knew something was wrong when he hadn’t heard from Nicolazzo for a few days. The two regularly had coffee together each morning.
“I knew something was up,” he said, “because every morning he was ready to go.”
When Csizmadia came by again Friday, he saw the two in the same position on the couch and that’s when he called Nicolazzo’s family.
Nicolazzo’s sister arrived Friday afternoon and forced open the door, then called 911.
Michael Nicolazzo said his son had moved back to the area from Missouri in the past few months ,and the rest of his family was not familiar with the woman.
He said the family kept in close contact with his son but had not heard from him since Wednesday.
Nicolazzo said his son visited him at his Butler-area home Tuesday evening.
“ ‘He said ‘I’ll see you tomorrow,’ ” Nicolazzo said.
