Two races for township commissioner in North Versailles are too close to call, according to final unofficial results from the Allegheny County Elections Division.
In Ward 1 former township emergency management coordinator Darryl W. Roher has 233 votes to 231 for incumbent township board president George S. Thompson.
Thompson, who chairs the township Democratic committee, defeated Roher by five votes for the Democratic nomination in the spring primary.
By 35-16 in a write-in contest, Roher defeated Thompson for the Republican nomination.
In Ward 3 Republican incumbent George Beswick appears to have won a rematch with Democratic township code enforcement officer Allen R. Wagner, 190-187.
Four years ago it was Beswick 171, Wagner 168.
Incumbents Russell Saula and Frank J. Bivins were unopposed for re-election in Wards 5 and 7, respectively. Both commissioners are Democrats.
Another race of interest in North Versailles and four nearby municipalities turned out to be no contest for Magisterial District Judge-elect Roxanne Sakoian Eichler, who netted 2,193 votes to 343 write-ins for the District 5-2-11 bench formerly occupied by Senior Magisterial District Judge Robert L. Barner.
Barner's daughter endorsed Eichler.
“Thank you for being an example of honesty, dedication and all things integrity,” Lauren Melina Barner posted on Facebook late Tuesday. “My family and I are so proud of everything you've overcome and accomplished.”
Two rivals were seeking write-in support, Gateway Rehabilitation assistant director of operations Jeffrey Filia, who was runner-up to Eichler in both primaries in the spring, and former township commissioner Kash Snyder.
