Two men who broke into a Fayette County convenience store and then attempted to steal an automated teller machine are being sought by police.

State police said the incident took place Monday at Speedy Meedy's along Three Mile Hill in Bullskin Township.

Police said two men, wearing jeans and dark-colored sweatshirts, backed a dark-colored or red pickup to the front door of the store, smashed out the front door glass and entered the store. The suspects went behind the counter, emptied the safe and attached one end of a chain to an ATM machine in the store and the other end to the truck. After two unsuccessful attempts at stealing the ATM, the men left at 3:01 a.m.

The truck is described as a mid-1990s model Ford F-150 single cab with a 4-inch-wide white or silver stripe running along the fender and top of the bed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 724-439-7111.
