2 women charged in Unity jewelry theft
A Latrobe woman was accused last week of stealing $2,200 worth of gold jewelry from a Hostetter residence and conspiring with another Latrobe woman to sell it at a Unity store, police said.
Kristine M. Johnson, 20, allegedly stole the jewelry from a 26-year-old Hostetter woman and gave it to Katelyn M. Malizia, 19, who sold it for $916 at the Treasure Hunt in Mountain Laurel Plaza along Route 30 in Unity, state police at Greensburg said. Malizia kept $256 and gave $660 to Johnson, police said.
Both women were charged Friday before District Judge Michael Mahady of Unity. Johnson was charged with theft, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Malizia was charged with receiving stolen property and theft by deception.
They are scheduled to be arraigned on May 9 before Mahady and face preliminary hearings on May 21.
