Firefighters searched Thursday for three University of Mississippi students missing after a fraternity house burned down in an early-morning fire. The fire at the Alpha Tau Omega house in Oxford, Miss., broke out at 4:30 a.m. and was still burning nearly five hours later, the Clarion-Ledger newspaper at Jackson, Miss., reported. More than 50 firefighters from two departments battled the blaze. Officials said 23 fraternity members and their housemother were in the house when the fire broke out in the dormitory section. The Lafayette County coroner rushed to the scene but was not able to enter the house because it was still burning. The cause of the fire and damage were not immediately determined. "The entire student body will be pretty upset over this," said Ole Miss student body President Gordon Fellows. "We wish them all the best and hope that everything is OK." © Copyright 2004 by United Press International
