3 sentenced to prison for terror in Jordan
Jordan's state security court Tuesday sentenced three people to prison after convicting them of terrorist attempts against foreign tourists.
The court sentenced two defendants to five years with hard labor and the third to 1 1/2 years in prison.
The defendants were convicted of conspiring to carry out terrorist activities and possessing unlicensed weapons they intended to use in illegal action. The indictment said the three planned to attack spots visited by foreign tourists as well as liquor shops.
Four defendants were originally tried in the case, but charges were dropped against the fourth after he died in prison last August from cancer.
