Four people were hurt on Thursday when two cars collided, sending one of them careening into a Fayette County bar.
Two of the bar's patrons were injured when one of the vehicles crashed through a wall and into the bar at the Paradise Restaurant and Bar, 516 Bute Road in North Union, a few miles outside of Uniontown.
State police at Uniontown said a black Audi driven by Ryan Barie, 24, of Uniontown, was heading south toward Uniontown when he attempted to make a left turn in front of a 2000 Town and Country minivan driven by William Eggers, 34, of Uniontown. The collision sent the minivan into the building, striking two men sitting at the bar.
"It sounded like a machine gun," said Grace Miller, who along with husband James, bought the restaurant a little more than a year ago. "I thought somebody got shot."
Barie was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., where he was admitted in good condition. Eggers was transported to Uniontown Hospital. His condition was not available last night.
Police did not identify the two men at the bar who were injured.
Grace Miller said she was in the kitchen cooking just after 6 p.m. when she heard the crash. She said the two men, a father and his son, were the only patrons in the bar while the restaurant, which is on the other end of the building, was nearly full of customers.
"We had a full house," she said.
James Miller spoke briefly with reporters prior to boarding up the heavily damaged building, where several windows were broken out. He said the two bar patrons, who he declined to identify, are regular customers and did not seem to be seriously injured. He said the pair were transported to Uniontown Hospital.
"This building has been here forever," he said. "There has never been a problem."
