A 50-foot steel bridge was stolen from a wooded area of Lawrence County.

State police said the thieves used a torch to dismantle the bridge sometime between Sept. 27 and Wednesday from an area known as Coverts Crossing near a railroad crossing in North Beaver, southwest of New Castle. The bridge is made of corrugated steel and had a steel web decking with steel I-beam supports.

The bridge, owned by New Castle Development, was valued at $100,000, state police said. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call troopers at 724-598-2211.
