Washington County's 84 Lumber Co. fell to sixth place from fourth place in ProSales magazine's 2010 list of the nation's 100 largest building materials companies.

The list, based on a company's sales to professional builders and remodelers, placed 84 Lumber's 2009 overall sales at about $1.4 billion, down 36 percent from 2008's $2.1 billion.

Nineteen of the list's 20-largest companies saw overall sales last year slip from 2008's total.

Another local company, Uniontown-based O.C. Cluss Lumber Co., slipped in ProSales' most recent list, falling five places to 39th place, from 34th place in last year's list. Total sales at Cluss dropped 23 percent, to $85 million in 2009, from $110 million in 2008.
