Britain's Q magazine has crowned the Beatles' 1967 "A Day in the Life" the best British song of all time.

The song from the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album was described by Q as "the ultimate sonic rendition of what it means to be British," the BBC reported Sunday.

Second in the poll of experts was "Waterloo Sunset" by The Kinks, followed by Oasis' "Wonderall" and the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen." Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" filled out the Top 5.

A BBC fan poll seeking the best British song of all time earlier this year chose The Kinks "You Really Got Me."
