Unique Pizza and Subs has opened at Cozy Corners off Route 819 outside of Mt. Pleasant.
What exactly makes it unique?
"It's our menu," said manager Luke Wozniak. "All you have to do is take a look and we have anything that you could want. From the steak and potato pizza to the pizza fries. It's definitely the most unique menu around."
The Unique Pizza and Subs franchise started in the Pittsburgh area in 1991. The Mt. Pleasant location, owned by Heather Papinchak, of Donegal, marks the seventh shop opening for the franchise.
"Our pizza is different -- like our Buffalo chicken pizza. We offer a product that no other pizza shop offers," Wozniak said.
The shop has seating for 20. It is a nonsmoking facility.
"We make our dough every day and if there is a demand, sometimes twice," Wozniak said. The sauce is also mixed fresh daily.
The pizza toppings are fresh. The cheese topping has a base mixture of mozzarella, provolone and white cheddar.
There are more than two dozen different pizza toppings and 16 different speciality pizzas to try.
Unique Pizza and Subs also offers more than 20 sub sandwiches -- including a baked version. Subs are offered in 7 inch or 14 inch.
"We can turn any sub into a stromboli. We put in the meat and bake it then we just cut the side and add the vegetables," Wozniak said.
Unique Pizza and Subs has several flavors of wings, appetizers and nine varieties of salads.
The pounder sub is a 14-inch sandwich packed with one pound of meat and cheeses --available in five choices.
And don't forget the kids.
"Our playground meals for kids are really popular," Wozniak said.
Calzones and strombolis also are on the menu and several different variety of fries are offered.
All menu items are available for eat in, take out, or delivery.
Unique Pizza and Subs offers frozen drinks, iced coffees and shakes from its "Tropical Bungalow."
Hours for Unique Pizza are Mondays through Thursdays 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight. Sundays the store is open noon to 11 p.m.
