ABC News Now, launched this summer on digital cable, is reportedly a test of the network's plans for a channel combining local and national news.

Senior Vice President Paul Slavin told the New York Post carrying local news from ABC affiliates would distinguish the channel from CNN and other cable news channels.

News Now is providing coverage of the Democratic and Republican conventions as well as broadcasts of Good Morning America and other ABC news shows. Its news coverage includes anchors like Peter Jennings and Sam Donaldson providing casual chatter along with the news.
