A 25-year-old Mt. Pleasant Township fugitive who taunted state police in Greensburg last week as he fled is behind bars.
Tyler J. Gorinski of Acme was jailed in the Westmoreland County Prison on $100,000 bail set by Norvelt District Judge Roger Eckels after his arrest by state troopers on Tuesday afternoon.
Details of Gorinski's arrest were not available on Tuesday.
State police sought the public's assistance in locating Gorinski, who is wanted for threatening a group of youths with a handgun last spring.
An off-duty trooper ran into Gorinski, of 758 Clay Pike Road in Hempfield, on Friday. Gorinski ran across a busy highway, taunting the officer as he fled, police said.
Troopers reported Gorinski, who has a history of violence, ran across busy Route 30 after he was spotted near Best Buy. Limani said Gorinski vowed he was “not going to jail.”
He was wanted in connection with an April 24 incident near a basketball court along United Road in Mt. Pleasant Township, where he allegedly threatened a group of juveniles.
According to an affidavit filed by Trooper James McKenzie, the youths, all younger than 18, were playing basketball about 8:30 p.m. when Gorinski drove past in his sport utility vehicle at a high rate of speed.
One of the teens yelled, “Speed kills,” and Gorinski became angered, police said.
“Gorinski pulled off the roadway, drove through the grass onto the basketball court,” police wrote in the affidavit filed before Mt. Pleasant District Judge Roger Eckels.
Police allege Gorinski got out of his vehicle and began yelling and threatening the group. Police said Gorinski threatened the teens with a handgun he pulled out of his vehicle.
