British actress Mary Wimbush collapsed and died after voicing her lines as Julia Pargetter for the BBC radio drama “The Archers” in Birmingham, England. Wimbush, 81, was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital Monday night, the Times of London reported Wednesday. She collapsed into the arms of Alison Dowling, who plays her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, as the pair exited the BBC studios, the Times said. Wimbush made her BBC debut in 1945. Among her many TV credits was the role of Aunt Agatha in “Jeeves and Wooster.” Her most memorable film credit was in Richard Attenborough’s “Oh What a Lovely War.” She won a Sony Radio award for Best Actress in 1991 for her performances in “The Horse’s Mouth” and “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.” Wimbush is survived by a son. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
