Aliquippa School Board president DiBenedetto shoots herself, police say

The president of the Aliquippa School Board who was running for re-election in Tuesday's primary fatally shot herself in her home, authorities said Friday.

Christine DiBenedetto, 62, was found dead at 3:15 p.m. Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi said. DiBenedetto was married to Aliquippa District Judge James DiBenedetto, 63.

Beaver County elections officials said her name will remain on the ballot because there isn't time to change it.

"There was no indication of foul play," Aliquippa police Chief Ralph Pallante said. Investigators said they did not find a suicide note.
