U.S. parents are being advised that all states require children be immunized before entering school for the fall semester.

"All 50 states have school immunization laws, but the requirements may vary from state-to-state," said Dr. Paul Antony of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, or PhRMA.

"Every year, many children miss the first day of school because their parents wait until the last minute to find out what immunizations are required."

In addition to immunizations, some children might also need a physical exam before participating in some school-sponsored-sports, according to Antony.
