Alle-Kiski spotlight game: Week 9
Kiski Area (2-6, 2-3) at Plum (5-3, 2-3)
Class AAAA Quad East Conference
7:30 p.m. Friday, Mustangs Stadium, Plum
Throw out the confusing Gardner Points tiebreakers. It doesn’t get much simpler than this. The winner goes to the playoffs and the loser stays home.
To make things even more interesting, the teams’ all-time series is tied, 13-13-1.
Plum may have a slight edge in the Quad East fourth-place showdown due to the home-field advantage, plus the Mustangs are riding a two-game winning streak.
Last week, running back Tarique Ellis rushed for 146 yards on six carries, all in the second half, in a 21-13 win at Fox Chapel.
Kiski Area, meantime, has dropped three straight games after consecutive wins. A tough schedule has the Cavaliers allowing almost 40 points per game.
The Cavaliers have begun to think about their future. They started freshman J.J. Cosentino at quarterback last week against Penn Hills.
Cosentino completed 9 of 18 passes for 156 yards in his debut.
Plum won last year’s meeting, 28-21.
