Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner said her campaign email account was hacked Tuesday.

Wagner sent an email to supporters asking them to ignore an earlier email about complimentary tickets to a fundraiser she is having Wednesday.

“We just learned that our account was hacked. It appears that you may have received an email with the subject line, ‘Complimentary Ticket to Chelsa’s Fundraiser.’ We apologize for any inconvenience and have addressed the security of the account,” Wagner wrote.

Wagner and two campaign contacts listed on a flier for the fundraiser did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

Luminous Strategies, a Philadelphia-based political consulting firm co-founded by Wagner’s husband, Khari Mosley, sent an identical email a few minutes after Wagner’s. The email, sent on behalf of Luminous Strategies, came from Mosley’s Google mail account.

Wagner paid Luminous Strategies $5,000 in 2015 and $22,500 in 2014 for consulting, according to campaign finance reports. She owed the firm $15,566.89 at the end of her primary campaign.

David Dix, a co-founder of the firm, said he had not heard of the hack and was checking with Wagner and Mosley to see what happened.

Neither Wagner nor her campaign reported the hack to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Police Department, Sheriff’s Office or Elections Division, representatives for the departments said.

Wagner, a Point Breeze Democrat, defeated former Controller Mark Patrick Flaherty in a heated race in the May primary. She has no competition on the November ballot.

The email in question, sent at 9:50 a.m., notified supporters of a complimentary ticket to Wagner’s fundraiser at the HYP Club in Downtown. The email contained a scanned image of Wagner’s signature that she uses in other campaign emails and a copy of the flier for the fundraiser.
