A bicycle and walking trail along the Allegheny River in the Strip District, which has been closed for months because of nearby construction, has been reopened with improvements, the Pittsburgh Mayor's Office announced Tuesday.

The city's Public Works Department and Friends of the Riverfront cleared the Strip District Trail from 11th to 21st streets of debris and the Buncher Co. built a new supporting wall and fencing along that section.

The trail was closed because of Buncher's ongoing development in that area and will be closed for short periods in the future, according to the mayor's office.
