I want to sincerely thank you for printing the Declaration of Independence on your "Our View" column on July 4. I believe it is important for all Americans to know our heritage; especially the heart and desire for freedom that our forefathers had. Their reasons and writing of the Declaration are beautiful, clear and strong.
I also hope you will consider publicizing the U.S. and Pennsylvania consitutions, too, and the Bill of Rights. Did you know that the U.S. Bill of Rights day is Dec. 15⢠And did you know that the U.S. Constitution never would have been passed without the Bill of Rights?
Patrick Henry was the leader of the anti-Federalists. He supported rights for the people. He was afraid that the central government would get too big and have too much power. Hmmmm, sounds like this is happening today. I wish we could have a much smaller central U.S. government.
