SOUTH BUFFALO - The lots at Northpointe Industrial Park continue to sell, as another company announced yesterday it will be moving into the park.
Hydro-Lazer Inc., currently located in Allegheny County, plans to build a 9,000 square-foot facility in the park this spring and is the sixth company to announce it plans to locate in the park, according to County Commissioner Jack Dunmire.
"It's just another success story for Northpointe," Dunmire said.
Hydro-Lazer cuts materials to be used in aerospace, architectural, and defense applications using a high-pressure stream of water and abrasive.
"We plan to begin construction as soon as the weather breaks this spring," said David Passarelli, president of Hydro-Lazer.
"(Passarelli) was very impressed with Northpointe," Dunmire said, adding that he believes the company will be hiring this fall.
The company currently employs four people, who perform the necessary programming, set-up, cutting, dimensional inspection and packaging needs of its customers.
The county has been aggressively marketing Northpointe in the Pittsburgh area, Dunmire said, and he said Hydro-Lazer may have found out about Northpointe by those means.
Hydro-Lazer is the third company from Allegheny County to announce that they are moving to Northpointe, Dunmire said, and he added that he doesn't mind companies moving up from the neighboring county.
"I'll take all I can get after what happened with Siemens-Westinghouse," he said. The defense contractor had planned to locate in Armstrong County, but decided at the last minute to locate in Munhall, at the urging of Allegheny County officials.
